Is it necessary to fix the anti-static table mat to the metal work table with screws?

When using an anti-static bench mat, is it necessary to bolt or screw it to a workbench with a metal plate for electrical connections, or is it simply placed on the metal plate?
My answer to your question is: It is recommended to use a ground wire to directly connect the anti-static table mat directly to the static ground spur. Normally, you can technically ground the antistatic desk mat by coupling the conductive side of the antistatic desk mat to the metal surface of the workstation. However, because of this, you may be at risk from AC electrical connections.
If your ground connection is not solid or permanent, a disconnection can also occur, resulting in a non-protective condition for the mat.
Also, some pads are multi-layered and may have a non-conductive bottom layer that cannot be coupled. In this case, the only reliable method of grounding is the proper use of an electrostatic grounding wire to ground the pad.
